feature of Internet Explorer 7, which allows passwords used to connect to a
secure website to be cached on the client.

Based on the issue, here is some information which may be helpful for you.
Analysis and Suggestion:

You may try the following steps to check if the issue reoccurred.
For authentication dialog box, you may perform the following steps to let
Internet Explorer 7 to prompt you for username and password:
1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
2. Click the Security tab, and then click the corresponding zones, such as
Internet.
3. Click Custom Level.
4. Under User Authentication, click "Prompt for user name and password,"
click OK, and then click OK again.
5. Try to access the web page again to see whether you are prompted for
password.
For password history item, you can perform the following steps to clear the
previous passwords:
1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
2. In the General tab, click "Delete..." button in "Browsing history"
3. Click "Delete Password".
For AutoComplete item, you may perform the following steps to make Internet
Explorer to cache the password.
1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
2. On the Content tab, click the Settings button under AutoComplete and
select all options.
3. Access the web page again to test.
