My apologies for not posting this to a more appropriate list, you see, I can
only access the internet to my home page and it freezes right then and
there. I can only close that window via Task Manager. This is what happened
after I followed and answered all the stuff you do when you get a new
computer. It_could_access the internet for all of the windows updates, but
no hablar browser. I checked before and after installing Service Pack2 and
all subsequent updates. Then I installed the Ultimate upgrade and checked
for more downloads. Still freezing up on launch, even IE8 did not help.
I've run 4 hours worth of diagnostics. There is no problem with the hardware
on this brand new Dell. I can't even downoad a different browser thanks to
this glitch. What do I do? I have the TechnetPlus DVDs for 2008. At this
point I'm ready to ask Microsoft to swap the Vista CD for the XPsp2+ OS
unless they can fix this trainwreck. I mean, you can't uninstall the brwser,
and unlike the good old days, it dos not give you the option to let it fix
itself. If there's a remdy, please post it here because it's the only way
I'll get to see it.
TIA,
Howard (who is glad they put a live link in Windows Mail)

As a quick test, do this right after your computer has finished booting:
Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
