I have XP Home and when I exit webpages in IE I get an
Error Message - DDE Server Window iexplore.exe referring
to application popups (Error ID:26) and being unable
to"read memory". Click OK to terminate program. It does
not occur if I close all windows as a group, only when
exiting them individually. Would be grateful for any
advice.

Check for parasites that are causing problems when closing some windows.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

Thankyou so much for your reply, I have followed your
advice (I do run Ad Aware regularly) Coinciding with the
start of this problem was my installation of "Slim
Browser" and I suspect this may have been the cause
although I did not have it set as my default browser. I
tried uninstalling it but this made no difference. In
fact have now reinstalled it as the problem does not
occur when I am using it, and to save the annoyance of
the Error Message all the time have now made Slim Browser
my default. By the way I am familiar with your
website, and visit regularly. Any other thoughts you may
have would be appreciated. Loopy (and driven to
distraction) Lyn
