Does anyone know how I can reinstall IE 6? I tried IE 7 Beta and didn't care
for it so got rid of it, now IE 6 isn't working properly. I can't send any
attachments, i get an error message that says: "Invalid File Specified.
Please Try Again:" It does not matter what size file I try to send. I am
using XP home with SP2. Also, half the links in my newletters don't work,
get a page can't be found error message. All these things worked before I
tried IE 7 Beta. I thought I could just reinstall IE 6 but sure can't find
IE 6 anywhere. Can find all the service packs for 6 but not 6 itself. Help
please.

Thanks but there is no download for IE 6 on this page, it is for the service
pack. I can not find IE 6 as a stand alone. Any further suggestions?

It's for Internet Explorer6 with SP1 included. From MS:

"Internet Explorer 6 SP1, which includes the e-mail client Outlook
Express, is the latest version of the Internet Explorer 6 core
technologies in Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional..."

That is what you need to download, the link is correct..

Thank you, I will give it a try. I already have SP2, think that will make a
difference?

Thank you John, I printed it out and will see if I can make it go again.
Thanks for the help.

You're welcome, Pat. Good luck, I hope you can get it fixed without
having to reinstall Windows. IE can be a real PITA!

Uninstalling IE7 will return you to IE6.

Before proceeding, please read! =>

1. First try uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs. (Tip: Make sure Show
Updates box is checked.)

If IE7 isn't found there, try the following which is based on the notes of
MVP Sandi Hardmeier:

2. Run the commandline

%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2$\spuninst\spuninst.exe (IE7 Beta2)

%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe (IE7 Beta2 Preview)

Replace %windir% (above) with the path to your Windows folder, most often
'C:\Windows'. Make sure Show Hidden File and Folders is enabled via Control
Panel > Folder Options.

or

3. Go to the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Right click on Internet Explorer > New String Value > Name that value
InstalledByUser (the value of the new String should be your User Account
name) > Uninstall IE7 via Add/Remove Programs.

Some software (for example CCleaner) deletes uninstaller directories such as
$NtUninstallie7bet2$ (or $NtUninstallie7bet2p$, for IE& Beta2 Preview).
If the $NtUninstallie7bet2$ folder is empty, or has been deleted completely,
whether by third party software or manually to preserve disk space, you will
not be able to remove the Beta 2 Preview via Add/Remove Programs or the
commandline. If running System Restore does not resolve the situation for
you, then your only choice is to stay with the Preview, or format your PC
and install Windows anew. You will not be able to install any future builds
of IE7 while Beta 2 Preview is installed, nor will you be able to run a
Repair Install of XP
