In my connection settings I have set the auto disconnect
to disconnect after 10 minutes being idle. No matter how
long it left inactive it wont disconnect
There is nothing running in the background
anyone any ideas

A couple of things: The computer may not define "idle" as expected.
I've been actively using my internet connection with the keyboard but
not the mouse, and had the warning come up that the connection was
idle.

Another place to look is in start button \ setings \ control panel \
network. Right-click your ISP name, choose Properties. Under Options
you'll find another idle time disconnect area independent of the one
in IE.
