my father just informed me that his internet would take quite a while to load
up when click on the "E" on the desktop. I looked into it and further notice
through task managers performace tab that the use would instantly go up to
100%. I went to the other 3 computers in my house and did the same procedures
and none of them maxed out like his did I looked into the version help->about
and his was more up to date than the other pc's so I figured it had to be a
windows update. we went to windows update and got the .net 1.1 frame work
update and it increase the performace a little bit. Does anyone have this
problem that just happened within the last week or so or any idea on how to
further curve the problem. Going to sites like hardocp.com takes like 2
minutes to totally load and yahoo is his main pages and that takes about a
1min-1min:45secs

One common thing that can cause IE to initially open slowly is a large or
corrupted History and/or Temporary Internet Files folder. See this site on
how to completely clear and reset those folders:

Another cause of the symptoms you've reported is spyware/malware that's
gotten on the computer...

Use Ad-Aware and/or Spybot Search & Destroy to remove it.

Spybot: http://security.kolla.de/

check for common parasites

If no joy, in IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Browsing
section, uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions", click Apply, click
Okay, reboot. If that solves your problem, then more troubleshooting is
needed to find out exactly which program, or Browser Helper Object (BHO) is
causing this problem. You don't want to leave it at that, as some BHOs are
useful or necessary - like Adobe Acrobat for reading .pdf files or an
essential component of Norton AV. Get BHODemon -
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm - read all about BHOs.
Disable all items, and then gradually replace one or two at a time to narrow
down the culprit.

If all the above fails, then the problem could be something new that the
spyware cleaners above don't have in their databases yet. In that case....
