I'm running XP home with IE 6 on a bt broadband connection.
but recently i have been unable to close the browser windows unless i quit them using task manager.
I have also noticed that when running IE 6 my processor usage jumps to 100% and gets stuck there until i quit the program.....
any ideas anyone? i've tried reinstalling and that didn't work, i could use any help at all....
thanks

Try To See If Somthings Ther Is Somthing Strange In Objects
And Maybe Running Ad-Aware/Spybot/Spysweeper May Solve
This Isue

Is it just IE, or is everything slower?

If it's everything:
Check whether you're nearly out of harddrive space. It
could be a memory issue. And check whether your
CPU fan is working okay.

If it's just IE, then find out from Task Manager what's using
the CPU besides iexplore. You might also try changing the
home page to something else.

If still no luck, then I'd suspect adware junk.

.This is a common problem. I set the Internet Explorer
6 homepage to: "about blank" so as not to access any
websites with IE6 browser. If no websites are accessed
the browser will close. I also purchased "Secure IE" web
browser from Winferno Software at www.secureie.com. This
browser uses all the IE 6 features and is able to close
with no problem using Windows XP. I got some information
from Spybot that there is a Microsoft Registry Key
installed that causes a security leak in IE6. Spybot
claims that the only answer will come from a security
patch from Microsoft.
