IE 6 SP2 window closes when I click download link

I have posted several times and no one has been able to
help me resolve my issue. When I click on a link to
download a PDF file 4 other ie windows open on my task bar
and then they all close down and nothing download. I don't
even get the window asking me to save or open file. Can
someone please help me?
 
Have you tried un-installing Acrobat Reader and re-
installing it? Have you ensured that you don't have any
viruses, etc?
 
I have unistalled it and re-installed it and I checked for
viruses and it it clean.
