ie 6 sp2 responding very slowly when trying to open any we

ie 6 sp2 responding very slowly when trying to open any website. On the
bottom tool bar it displays detecting proxy settings. this goes on for about
4 min and then it connects. pls advise
 
solution

after reading other threads about ie i decided to stop explorer.exe process
and restarting it again.........seems like the problem disappeared... thanks

Are you sure that you have a proxy to detect?
If not uncheck those options (in the Connections tab, Settings dialog)
