IE 6 - sorting favorites

I can customize any folder in Favorites to put URLs in the
order I want - like order of importance rather than alpha.

However, when I pull then down to select, IE 6 sorts all
of each folder's entries back into alpha sequence.

Is there a way to stop this nonsense?

I don't think that's possible with IE, it is possible with
other browsers like Mozilla FireFox, imo the best browser
you can use ...

Save URLs as: (or re-name)
1. most important URL
2. next most important URL
3. next most important URL

numbers will move them to the top of the "sorted" list....
might suggest skipping numbers to make it easier to slide
a newer URL in between the existing ones

Dragging them works for me. However, I wouldn't necessarily expect
the order of items I have in the menu to be the same as the order of items
I have in an Explorer window view of them.

When you right click on one is the Sort by name option still checked?
Have you tried unchecking it?

BTW I am not particularly interested in doing the necessary test to find out
for myself but each time I have answered this question I have been hoping
that someone would post back to say if dragging can cause
the Sort by name option to become unchecked. I seem to recall
reading somewhere that it is the way that it is supposed to work.
