ok, i'm getting really frustrated with this:

when i open a browser window, if i hit CTRL+N or even click on the IE icon on my desktop, it closes the previous window and opens a new one! I've tried looking in IE options but can't find anything to stop this from happening.

can anyone help?

Well Ctrl-N is the standard for new window/document in most applications. Though I have no idea why it closes the previous window ... I don't have that 'problem' in Firefox. ;)

Try right-click, open in new window.

You may find an answer here ...

oh ok. i've tried every other way of opening a new window but it just does the same thing.

my mate suggested perhaps an spyware program gone wrong?

Internet Explorer is the problem itself. Its really not a great browser.

Most people I know who know anything about computers have opted to use alternative browsers as soon as they've been introduced to them. I really hate it when I'm in a library or something and I'm forced to use IE instead of Opera - its design and layout is comparatively moronic, and multi-window surfing is far more difficult. If your somebody like me, who always interchanges between viewing one window and loading another, you'll really enjoy the difference. Im not sure if Microsoft are for some reason 'proud' with the design of IE, or have been too scared to change it - but it certainly doesn't feel like something anyone serious about surfing for more than 30mins a day would want to use.

Also, purely by the fact that Opera and Firefox aren't internet explorer, they are less succeptible to spyware.
