Lately when I click on a link in Outlook Express for IE 6, but then it says
there was en error and I have to end the task and then the error reporting
thing comes up. I am running Windows XP Home with Outlook Express 6. Also, I
have Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy and my system is clean and they
are both frequently updated but everytime I launch Internet Explorer 2 or 3
popups come up. I also have the Yahoo popup blocker. What should I do? Thank
you.

Perhaps 'CWShredder' can help you.

Hi Torkild, Vince...

In the last edition of Mike Healan's "Spyware Info" he announced that
the "Merijn program's" have moved to their own domain and web site,
below the most accessed files on the new domain:

Use a good IE browser shell, such as MyIE2. I never see pop ups, plus it has
many other nice features.

The number of reasons to use MyIE2 or similar, over iexplore.exe, are many
("let me count the ways-"). In addition to this, the OP ought to decapitate
the error reporting component. Out of general principle. I don't recall from
memory the steps to do that, but there are docs on the web.

(Google internet explorer remove error reporting)

It's probably something that both (adaware and spybot) don't catch . It's
getting pretty common nowdays. Download HJT and post the logs at
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ , they can help you there.

Given that the problem is likely to be spy-adware based, switching to a
IE shell won't solve the problem. After all the original poster does have
a popup blocker yet it doesn't do any good.

There are effective popup blockers and ineffective popup blockers. MyIE2 has
been very effective for me.

No doubt you think myie2 is the best thing since sliced bread, since you
are recommending it left and right without even considering if it's the
right tool (See previous threads on secure erasing).

But it will still fail for unfathered popups which is the usual kind
spawned by Gator and other adware.

Second, even if your popup blocker did block popups, it does not solve the
root problem which is adware/spyware on your computer doing who knows what
else.

I don't care if it works for you or not. It works for me and countless
others. If you don't like it, use something you do like.

I recommend Spybot for this.

See above.

And Aaron, please quit stalking me.

Did I say I didn't like it? All I said is that it doesn't solve the
problem. I would have made the same comment, if you had recommended,
mozilla or avant browser or whatever.

See above.

Stalking? You think too highly of yourself. Quit recommending
inappropriate tools and I wouldn't care less if you recommend myie2 (or
whatever) until the cows come home.

When you insist on recommending the wrong tools , don't blame me if I
feel inclined to comment.

One more time Aaron. Get out of my shorts. OK? I think you're one of the
good guys, and I hate to be forced to treat you like a common troll.
