Hi:
For some reason when I click on Tools Internet Options I get the following
message:
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."
I am running Windows 2000 and IE.6 SP1.
It started after I had installed Windows 2000 updates KB889293 and
KB889669.
Believing them to have caused the problem I uninstalled both. It didn't
make any difference. I haven't installed anything else. I Googled for
information and checked the MS website, but
can't find a reason or, more importantly, how to fix it. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

And if you did install both, hopefully 889669 was last.
Although I do not know for fact that installing 889293
after 889669 does cause problems, I do know that the
other way around does not cause problems.

Hi:
Thanks for the replies. I will reinstall KB889669 without KB889293 and see
if I can recover the Tools Internet Options menu.

Me again:
No change. I get the same message when I try to open Tools Internet Options.
Is this a local machine/ Windows 2000 problem? I am on a stand-alone with
no other users and I am the administrator.
