Hi all
not sure if i have got the right newsgroup or not so my
apologies if it is the wrong one...

I have a couple of machines running windows 2000
profesisonal and within a couple of minutes of starting
Internet Explorer then annoying pop up messages keep
appearing. I have installed a pop up killer, disabled the
messenger service, installed and run AdAware spyware
hunter, emptied temp internet files inc cookies but still
the boxes keep appearing and it doesnt matter which site I
am on at the time, has anyone else had this and found a
solution to the problem.

Thanks very much for any assitance you can give

Davidt

set of Cisco PIX firewalls,

Um, I'm behind a Firewall and the much maligned Norton NIS and cannot
remember the last time I saw a popup window. I dont have messenger installed
either.

so basically what you are saying is that you cant help ??

Thanks very much anyway

Well all I'm saying is that I installed NIS, removed messenger and now dont
get any popups.
NIS does have an intergrated popup stopper, and I can see by the logs that
its blocking popups.
There are I believe two types of popups, those triggered in messenger and
those triggered within a web page.
If you use messenger I assume there is some way of configureing it, but I
dont use it
Hope this is of some use.
