IE 6 "page can not be displayed" error

When I try to access several websites, I receive the
error that the page can not be displayed or is
temporarily unavailable. I noticed in the lower left
hand corner of the browser it is trying to connect to IP
127.0.0.1 . Can someone suggest something to check that
might correct this? This error only started appearring a
couple of days ago, until then all was fine. TIA

Check if the website is blocked using the HOSTS file. Check for a file named HOSTS in the hard disk and delete the particuler line referring to that webpage..
