Hi all

Im having a few minor problems with internet explorer 6

1st is that explorer or just xp seems to have a limitation to how many
window can be opened simultaneously something between 20-30. Any more than
this and it will simply not load any more including other application. If it
does let you it will show an error saying "this window is busy" "closing this
window may cause some problem “do you want to close it anyway?"

If you click ok it does cause problems and it is really difficult to get rid
of the browser (it just freezes)

Im hoping I can get past this limitation as it can be quite annoying if you
are doing something which requires multiple windows.

I have all the updates for windows xp pro / ie6
And am running on a

Amd xp2600 "Barton core"
Twin mos 512mb ddr400

Which should easily handle these applications

Hi,
From the "that might be useful someday" folder <G>...

In this article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=184802
In this section
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\SubSystems\Windows
The default data for this registry value will look something like the
following (all on one line):

SystemRoot%\system32\csrss.exe ObjectDirectory=\Windows
SharedSection=1024,3072,512 Windows=On SubSystemType=Windows
ServerDll=basesrv,1 ServerDll=winsrv:UserServerDllInitialization,3
ServerDll=winsrv:ConServerDllInitialization,2 ProfileControl=Off
MaxRequestThreads=16

Changing 3072 to 4096 might allow you to open 80-90 windows. I would
recommend exporting that key before making the edit.

Hope this helps,
Don

Many thanks for the response. it has solved the error problem its simple goes
without hassle but I am not sure if its increased the window limitations
seems to of added a few more aprrox 10 allowing around 40-50 (variable)
windows open. Just out of curiosity if I was to increase the value in the
registry would it allow more or cause error

Also could you state what relevance that value has on the application/s

Again many thanks for you time much appreciated
