On some sites I get the message "you need IE5 or higher to view this site."
I have 6.0.2 but it isn't being recognized. What can I do?

Hi,
See if http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx can properly identify your
version of Internet Explorer from the User-agent information.

It's likely that a third-party security/privacy program is blocking browser
information.
Here are some examples (from Mike Burgess:)
* Zone Alarm Pro [Private Header Info - enabled]
Turn off "Ad Blocking" and "Cookie Control" in ZAP (Privacy Advisor)

* Symantec [Enable Browser Privacy - enabled]
Active Content - "Allow All Script To Execute"

* Any "ad blocking" software that blocks "http_referer"
or contains entries that are blocking access to the desired site.

* Pop-up blockers that are stripping header\url info.

* WebWasher Standard Filter/URL Filter

Hope this helps,

I'm having the same problem.
When I start IE version 6 and go to various sites it tells me I need to
upgrade to version 5 or higher. My MSN Homepage has text and thats all it
shows. I am already using version 6 but its not being recognized.

The Fiddler Tool recogizes IE v6 and SP2.

BTW, when I click on the link you posted for Fiddler Tool I see the Fiddler
page briefly and then it takes me to this page:
http://www.syncrisis.com/
Is this some kind of hijacking?

Hi,
First, clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often
recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Next, there shouldn't be a link between
http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx and the other site. Yes, you have
some sort of malware, adware, sponsorware, hijackware installed.
