Getting "Cannot find server or DNS Error".
I've been through all the settings in IE - changing them to the defaults,
checking that the proxy isn't being used. Also, looked at the ethernet
adaptor to see that it's set up for dhcp, renewed the lease...
I'm not sure if I'm having an ethernet card problem or an IE problem. Can't
ping myself (localhost = 127.0.0.1 in hosts). Do I need a ping server
running in Windows for this to work? Can (should) the network card respond
to pings? Can ping other sites with good response time and no loss reported.
Also noticed that IE comes back with DNS Error very quickly. Is there a way
to tell it to spend a little more time looking before returning an error?
I'm guessing now that IE is corrupt, since nothing has changed since the
problem started. Is there an ftp site at Microsoft where I can attempt to
download it?
Thanks,
Mike
