IE 6 Loading slow

I have had this problem for a while now and am finally getting annoyed by it.
After clicking on the IE launch button it takes 10-15 seconds for the page to
load. I am running XP Home SP2 on a DSL line. I have seen a few blogs here
and there for different fixes but don't know if any actually work. I cannot
upgrade to IE 7 yet due to my service provider is not compatable yet.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Check for spyware and adware using Windows Defender / Spybot / Adaware.
Still not better? Try BHODemon to find out which Browser Helper Objects
are installed.

I've never heard of a service provider not being compatible with IE7. IE7
is a browser, not a server product. You must have misunderstood something.

Kind regards

Hans

I know it is weird about the service provider not working with IE7 but 2
agents told me the same thing, and after I loaded IE7 and rebooted I could
not access the internet anymore.

I will try the spy/adware programs.

Well a simple thing would be to clean out your temporary internet files and
delete your browsing history to see if that speeds things up. Tools,
Internet Option, delete files, check delete all offline content, clear
history. Also if it is a connection issue your ISP should have some kind of
free support, you may want to consult with them. Let me know if this is
helpful.

Whoever you talked to at your internet provider is full of something.

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and set them to 50 MB.

Make sure you don't have any malware:

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
