I have been repairing computers for a long time. Both Software and Hardware.
I have run into a new problem on my own computer. Half of the time when I use
IE6 my computer reboots. I am using W2K with all the updates and I have DSL.
I also have AVG, Norton Internet Security, and Windows Defender. I have
checked all my settings and still can not find a problem. No viruses have
shown up that may cause this problem. I have also looked under the Knowledge
Base and still have not found a solution.. Any Ideas?

Hi Alice,
Try to uninstall and reinstall the IE to narrow down the Causes, did you
have any recent Applications or Hardware installed recently can produce this
scenario/issue?.
Go to this article on how to reinstall IE6;

Most likely this is a hardware issue, most likely with the video card. IE
is harder on your video card and drivers than almost anything outside of
games and CAD/CAM. First, turn down or off the hardware acceleration to the
video card. If that helps, new or updated/reinstalled drivers may be in
order - or a new video card as a last resort.

If no joy, then in IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, and
uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions", Apply, Okay, reboot. If
that helps, recheck that box, reboot, and then go to Tools...Manage Add-ons
and disable a couple items at a time to narrow down the culprit.

I also see you are running two anti-virus programs. If you have both AVG
and NIS set to "real time" or "automatic" scanning, turn one off - they may
be interfering with each other.
