Hi all, I ran an adware scan and since then the IE keeps closing all by
itself then wanting me to send error report. I think something got removed
for it. I don't know what it would be because I looked through the programs
adaware thought should be off the computer. I love Ad aware and never had a
problem before. I need to know should I try uninstalling and re installing or
do something else. I also tried Windows Update site already and they have no
updates for me so I'm not missing an update. Thanks Bee

Can be many things try these steps

1._ Run an Anti-Virus to check for any virus that you might have
2._ Run an Anty-Spyware to check for any Spyware that you might have
3._ Run Windows Updates to check for any new version or patch

Internet Explorer might be damage try to uninstall and reinstall it
1._ Go to control panel
2._ Open Add or Remove Programs
3._ Select Add/Remove Windows components from the left side
4._ Uncheck Internet Explorer click next to uninstall follow the steps
5._ Restart your computer and repeat steps from 1 to 4
6._ Recheck Internet Explorer to reinstall it

I'm at work with this problem and it's the horrible windows 2000 pro. and I
can't stand it. It's not user friendly that's for sure. I'm going to have him
buy and install XP. But for the problem it's still doing it now only when I
need a map from Maps.com. Once I get the directions for the doc to go to a
home I need the printer friendly version and it closes automatically and I
finally saw the little check on the box that says it's encountered a problem
and will shut down to reopen it. I unchecked that. I've run virus scans and
there is nothing. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I went to windows
update and there is nothing. I went to find further info on the problem like
it says to click the link and they have no info on the problem. It's very
stange and I didn't install anything new it just started it. bee

MS issued a security update last week that causes this problem on W2K
machines. They were promising a fix today. Otherwise, you need to:

- turn off auto-updates
-download IE6 SP1 and reinstall, overriding the warning message
- apply all updates except the Aug/06 one

There is a hotfix available:
When you visit a Web page that uses a custom pop-up object, Internet
Explorer 6 closes unexpectedly:

Frank was not replying to you. Please begin your own thread about
/your/ issues.

I'm aware that Frank was not replying to me but I had exactly the same
issue on the same OS version as the OP so I was following this thread.
The advice Frank gave should have applied equally to me as well as the
OP but didn't (on the face of it) seem to apply to either of us.
Therefore I posted as a continuation of this thread. It's a
supplementary question, directly arising from this thread and directly
relevant to it. That's what a "thread" is.

I can't believe you're really suggesting that if ten people have
identical problems they should post in ten separate threads, each
confined only to the OPs and their direct respondents.

Unless you known without a doubt that your machine & everything installed on
it is /exactly/ like that of the OP, yes, begin a new thread about your
problems. At the very least we'll known who's replying to whom.

Oh, don't be such a stuffed shirt! I can't believe you are making such
an issue of this.

I don't want to prolong it but let me say:

- I'm fairly sure that my years of experience in usenet/uunet forums
makes me at least your peer in posting etiquette.

- I have taken the time to read and consider your comments. I see
nothing in my post that was made in anything other than a completely
logical fashion or that it would contravene forum or usenet posting
guidelines.

- Given that this is an unmoderated forum, my opinion is as valid as yours.

- If my posts bother you, please either hit return or add me to your filter.
