Any help much appreciated guys. I'm running IE6 on my
laptop and all has been fine until last night. I was
online gaming (big mistake as it must have been unsafe
and I was loosing the game anyway) when IE just started
up in the middle of my game trying to get to a website
called: www.unixshellz.info/antitrust/ it then has a
message on the page saying 'Want to earn 24k a month?
subscribe to MediaTickets'. IE then hangs for a moment
before a download box appears asking me to OK the
download of MediaTickets software. Needless to say I
haven't clicked OK, but the whole PC then locks and has
to be restarted. Each time I now run IE online I get
about 5 mins peace before the unixshellz website hijacks
the show and tries to connect again before locking up the
PC.

Guess I have got some kind of virus from the game server?
Any idea what this 'virus' could be and if there are any
ways to destroy it? I've tried to load up Norton internet
security but I'm getting a message saying that it can't
be installed because it's encountering a problem. If
there are any downloads you know of...

Cheers in advance for any help.

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Malware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.

Thanks a million Frank. I ran the shedder, adware and
Spybot S&D and ended up collering a nasty 'alexa' thing.
I've just run IE online for a test and all is now fine.
Thanks very much for your help - it's good to know that
some people in the computer world are friendly. I must
also recommend the aumha.org/a/parasite.htm. Very
thorough and straight forward. Thanks again.
