IE 6 hangs

Explorer hangs when I try to empty local cache (delete temporary Internet
Files). Deleting cookies ok. Can anyone tell me how to fix this please?

The History folder can be deleted manually:

Then set your IE cache (TIF folder size) at about 50/60 mb.

I understand the process for clearing the cache it just does not work. I
have scanned for viruses, this comes back clean.
 
Cannot sort therefore I have upgraded to IE 7. Local cache files now clear
ok. Thank you for your help
