I am running IE6.0.2900.2180 My browser will hang on any given page at
seemingly random times. I have been able to free up the current page by
opening or refreshing another browser window. This has been the case since
this laptop was purchased new about one month ago. It happens mostly on my
home wireless network, which we use almost exclusively for the laptop. Is it
an IE6 problem, and if so, ant ideas?

Hi Mr Goodwrench,

Any add-in toolbars installed? Particuarly the Yahoo Companion toolbar? The
symptoms you describe indicate it to be the problem (see previous posts in
this newsgroup).

To test if an add-in is causing the problem open Internet Options
(Tools>Internet Options menu item) and on the Advanced tab uncheck "Enable
third-party browser helpers" , save/apply your changes and restart Internet
Explorer.

I am pretty sure that if indeed you have the Yahoo toolbar installed then
this will be the culpret. If not and you are using other toolbars then you
can re-enable third-party browser helpers and then use the Add-In Manager
(Tools>Add-In Manager) to disable each add-in in turn until you find the one
that is causing the problem.

In case of the Yahoo toolbar, disabling the toolbar is not enough. You have
to uninstall the toolbar completely.
To fix the problem - uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar.

Regards.
