IE 6 freezing

After upgrading from IE 6 to the SP1 version, my machine
unpredictably "freezes" every so often requiring a hard
shut-down and reboot. Obviously there is some sort of
conflict...but I don't have a clue as to what it may be or
how to fix it. Can anybody help?

Change the screen resolution to a lower setting, see if it helps.
Reduce the graphic aggressiveness.

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
