IE 6 freezes when accessing IE 6

I have Windows xp Home sp2 on a 1.6 w/512 ram. Just started freezing on
opening of IE6. Does not give url or any listing. No buttons work on
toolbar. Just a blank IE6 screen that shows a busy cursor. Reinstalled IE6
sp1 several times. Reinstalled xp twice. Put Mozilla Firefox on and it
works! Any suggestions? Checked all settings and ran Virus Scan, Spybot,
AdAware, registry fix. all w/ no effect
