Just updated to IE6. Running Windows 98 ver2, with all the latest service
packs uploaded.

Went to the Favorites menu after updating IE6, and my Favorites are all
GONE!

Any suggestions on getting them back?

I just fugured they would come forward to the later version when I updated.
I think I was running 5.5, or a slightly earlier version of 6.

HELP!

Thanks..............Rich Johnston

You are probably out of luck. I don't remember this happening when I
upgraded from IE 5.5 to 6.0 under Win98, but maybe I was lucky. You can
copy the contents of the Favorites folder to a floppy for safekeeping in
times of need. If it is too big for the good old 1.44 MB floppy, burn the
favorites folder to a cd along with the rest of your important stuff!

Kevin,

What's the parth to the Favorites folder? Looked, but can't locate it.
I'll remember to copy it to another directory, on another computer on my
home network before I upgrade again!

Thanks. At least I don't have to go on searching for my Favorites!

I think it is because my Netscape is still on this unit, even though I don't
use it, and IE grabbed the Netscape Bookmarks and imported them into a
folder called "Imported Bookmarks" instead of bringing forward my IE
Favorites from the previous IE verson.

Makes no sense, but Microsoft doesn't always!

Kevin, Others,

Found the Favorite folder with the former IE5.5 favorites in it at
C:/windows/favorites! OK! This is the one I want to use, but is not the
one showing when I hit favorites in the IE6.

The "Favorites" that are showing up are located at:
C:/windows/application data/earthlink/6.0/my.name
2earthlink.net/favorites

I've got Earthlink/Time Warner Road Runner Broad Band, so I guess that's
where this path comes in. I don't use any of their software, but do have an
earthlink email, also not used.

Why IE6 has chosen this location to access Favorites and why my old Netscape
Bookmarks have been imported into Favorites at this location and are being
used I don't understand.

Any suggestions to get back to my original IE5.5 Favorites?

Thanks........Rich J.

Rich,

Copy the contents of that folder at C:/Windows/Favorites to a floppy, just
in case. Delete the other folder. Reboot. Internet Explorer should now be
using the favorites you want as the other folder is now gone.
