I run IE 6 on Windows XP. I can use IE just fine, no
problems. When I close off of IE, I get the familiar
error message: "Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close." I have sent an error report
to Microsoft numerous times. This is only when I close
IE. This is the only problem I have with it. System
Restore does not work and the next step I am going to
take is uninstalling Internet Explorer and then
reinstalling it. I will download the installer, uninstall
IE, and then connect and install it. But if anyone can
help, I'll take your advice first. Please email me as
soon as you can if you can help. Thanks!!!!

Adam,

Have you done any reading in this newsgroup before posting?
Any searching using Google Groups?

Crashes like yours are frequently caused by interfering
third-party programs collectively known as malware
(aka spyware, scumware, etc.)

The only useful detail you have provided is your OS
but you haven't included any version info or crash details.
This makes it difficult to advise you on what other possibilities
there could be as causes for your crashes.

FYI IE can not be reinstalled in XP in the usual way. See KB318378.

You were unwise to include your unprotected E-mail address
as long as so many newsgroup readers on fast links have machines still
infected by SWEN. Also few responders reply by E-mail because
it is too often misinterpreted as a willingness to correspond privately
instead of recognized just as an extra courtesy in order to continue
problem-solving in a public collaboration.
