The problem I described in "Possible broken MIME association in IE 6 SP2
or Windows XP prevents TIF files from displaying?" is still unresolved that
I posted on 2007-10-26. I did not explain the issue correctly, I am not
trying to view TIF files within Internet Explorer. I am trying to restore
the default behavior of launching another Microsoft program to view the
files such as Microsoft Office Document Imaging (Office XP version
1.03.2349.1) or the Windows Picture and Fax viewer. The current broken
behavior causes IE to display a broken red X icon instead of launching one
of the two programs with the TIF image.
Microsoft, please review my postings on that thread from 2007-10-29 on
to understand the troubleshooting that has already taken place. Other
computers at the office are working as expected, launching either the Office
Document Imaging program or Picture and Fax viewer depending on which
application is registered as the default for TIF files.
