IE 6 crashes After Update

After installing updates, activeX controls require clicking before
user-interaction can occur. That isn't the issue: if you click another link
on the page that contains the activex control (typical a web page displaying
a WMP plugin), IE crashes with the option to send an error report. Or if you
simply close the window, you get the same thing.
I read where there may be conflicts between the google toolbar and the
updates, so I removed the toolbar but the crashes still take place.
Anyone else experiencing this? Better yet, anyone know a fix?

after looking around the net, i did think it was a result of that update.
they don't give you an option to disable the "feature". so i did a system
restore to a time before i installed the updates, and while i don't have to
click to activate activex controls, i'm still experiencing the crashing that
didn't occur before i originally installed.
