I have a brand new Dell computer, lots of memory, powerful CPU, preloaded
with XP SP2, it also came with IE already installed in it, but the stupid
thing crashes constantly. Righ before I sent this message IE crashed again. I
am sick and tired of it. I cannot visit more than 3 or 4 web sites before I
am forced to restart IE again. I humbly ask for your help. I liked IE, but at
this rate I am ready to move to Mozilla or Netstcape or what ever else is out
there.
Please, help.

Yeah, I have the same problem w/IE6 crashing on my Sony Vaio, which I bought
a year ago and have been suffering since. Even when I try to delete IE (to
re-install and start afresh), it just won't delete. I tried to "Add or
Remove Programs" in Control Panel, but that doesn't work, either. Anyone out
there know how to delete, of it even helps?

Right now, I'm looking at www.Microsoft.com's "Information Database" and
following instructions on how to turn off IE Add-ons. I went to IE - Tools -
Manage Add-ons, and have disabled any unrecognizable add-ons.

Also, I went to Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del) and saw that MS
Messenger was running in the background, even though I never use it. So I
deleted it.

I'm hoping the above 2 steps will help. We'll see.... Any knowledgeable
people out there, please help! THANKS!

Thanks for the post, but the problem I am experiencing (it is still
happening) has nothing to do with Spyware. The problems started with the
computer out of the box. I, because of previous experience, installed MS Anti
Spyware software as soon as I had the computer connected to my network.
Besides, there are very few cookies, almost no Internet Temp files. The
computer has only been in use for the last 4 days. This problem with IE is
more than annoying. I cannot do anything, just before I posted this note, IE
crashed again, for the nth time today.

Vic,
Contact Dell, have your PC exchanged, since it's new, out-of-the-box...

Need more information to help. What do you mean by "crash"? Error
messages? Freezes? IE closes? Next time you get an error message, click
the Details button and copy/paste the data there into your next post (you
can leave out the stack dump numbers). If there is no Details button, copy
the text of the error message and repost. Please also include what version
of IE you are using and what version your OS is.
