IE 6 closes when I type in a url

For several months now, my IE 6 closes automatically if I type in a url. For
instance, if I want to go "www.snopes.com", and I enter either the full url
or just "snopes.com", it will open up and then close the browser. If I pull
down my "favorites" and click on the url or if I do a search and click on the
url, the browser stays open without any problem. Does anyone have an answer
to this problem? Thanks.

Hi Mark,
1=> Is your computer clean from malwares and viruses, and cleared your
caches and deleted your Internet Files and cookies?.
Clear your caches and delete of your offline files and cookies.
Go to the IE Properties and click on Advanced Tab and scroll down under this
option the uncheck it:
[&] Browisng
[ ] Enable third party browser extensions (requ res) uncheck this
Click OK and close the IE properties , then Reboot your machine.

2=> Try to run or open the Run Command and type this:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and wait for it to finish and get your XP CD
handy to insert it when asked so and Reboot your machine.
Do a defrag to your system in Safe Mode.
Note: Please perform one step (1, 2, 3) at a time and Reboot your machine
and see if the issue resolved.
HTH
Please let us know your result.

I've been cleaning cache on a regular basis. Did it again, ran the malware
cleaner one more time and unchecked the "enable third party browers...".
After rebooting, it seems to have cleared up the problem. Thanks for your
help.

Mark.
