For the past few months, I've encountered a problem when
on the web (using a Westell DSL modem). ME will suddenly
reboot; screen goes blank, reboot, scandisc and then back
to desktop. As if someone suddenly unplugged the
computer and rebooted.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chris

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Does any other program cause a reboot?

Do you have a firewall through a router? Bypass the router by plugging DSL
directly to computer, temporarily bypassing the router.
