IE 6 can't get Microsoft websites

I have windows xp home with all critical updates installed
(far as I know)A few days ago my computer lost all access
to any Microsoft website.......no windows update.....no
microsoft.com.....no windows media.....nothing!!!!!I can
get to all other websites.tried to repair IE but can't
get to microsoft to download it.Any suggestions or ideas
anyone?Thanks!!
 
Look for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). If you find
it rename it to HOSTS.OLD
