IE 6 "cannot find server"

My winXP laptop suddenly cannot browse through Internet
Exployer. I got it to go through Netscape, but when I
open IE, it says "cannot find server". I am running ie6
with the latest updates.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
