I posted about this problem several days ago, but received no responses. On
the theory that my post got lost or scrolled out of existence I am going to
have another go.
A week or so ago, probably because of an automatic system update, my IE 6
started acting up. Why do I suspect this? Well all my Google add-in were
missing (a sure sign an update was screwing things up). Why I have to ask if
Microsoft designed IE to work with added third party software are they so
quick to eliminate it when they get a chance? Well leave that aside.
What is happening is instead of following a hyperlink, IE 6 or IE7, they
both exhibit the same behaviour, either put up an error message or open a
window to my root directory, C:/. The error message is to the effect that the
path does not exist or there is something wrong with the directory.
The only info I could find in Microsoft KB talked about editing the
register, but I cannot find that entry now.
Can someone please advise? This is making my IE "experience" less than a
happy one.
