IE 6/7, restart computer on plugin update

Hello.

I noticed that after some Windows Update, IE6 (also 7) asks to restart
the computer after some plugin was sucessfully updated.

Do you know why? And, most important, does anybody know a way how to
avoid the restart?

Because if the updates contains a new version of some file that is in use it
can't be changed while it is in use.
 
The plugin is not in use. This behaviour is new, the restart was not
required some (2-3) months ago.
