I am running Windows XP with IE 6.0. Recently IE won't open an address which
is directly typed in the address space. It will also not open from my
Favorites. If I go to Google and type in the subject or name, and then
choose appropriately, it will open fine from there. Also my automatic
complete is not working with the address bar only. Any suggestions?

Hi,
This sounds like either a corrupted History folder or a malware infection.

Probably won't help, but first try...
Internet Options> Programs> Reset Web Settings. This may also be under IE>
Tools> Reset Web Settings.

Then try deleting the History folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:

If it's not a History/autocomplete problem, see these sites for help with
