IE 6.0 Windows XP & 98 ... some images won't display

this happens on some pages but not all. all images fail
to load. it seems to be the same images on the same
websites on both of my computers. they are both updated
on a regular basis. please help. i do have nortan
internet security but have had it for a while and have
not always had the problem with the images. like
www.daily freebies.com 3 images at the top are replaced
with the box with the red x instead. same with
www.msn.com 1 box at the top right fails to load . any
ides or help is greatly appreciated. also when i click on
a link to go to another place like

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make
sure that it is spelled correctly.

and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab,
click Settings. The settings should match those provided
by your local area network (LAN) administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).
If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft
Windows can examine your network and automatically
discover network connection settings.
If you would like Windows to try and discover them,
click Detect Network Settings
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the
Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to
determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your
Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu,
and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab,
scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL
2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

Nothing to worry about ....... it appears your HOSTS file is doing it's job,
blocking ad servers, banners, trackers, etc.

The 3 links you provided on the bottom of your message are all site
trackers.

In the event you can not access a site and you believe it may be due to an
entry in the HOSTS file.

You can use a simple batch file to rename the HOSTS file "on-the-fly".

why would it be happening on both computers? what is a
HOSTS file? why do i see some ad banners still?? is this
something new?
