Microsoft software is sooooooo frustrating. This web page
http://www.ldbellband.org/ works find on one computer with
Windows 2000 and IE 6.0 and it does not work on Windows
XP and IE 6.0. I have double checked all of the IE
configuration settings and they match.

I would provide an email address but the last time I did
that on this Microsoft site I got spammed by a lot of
perverts.

Wonderful world this internet is... NOT !!!

Check your Java Support
Found out what version you have and you should be able to get what you need.

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.

You can open the file with Notepad

Unless you have install or created this file, there should be only one
uncommented line in it and that is
"127.0.0.1 localhost" (no quotes)

If there's anything else, either delete it or put a semi-colon ( ; ) in
front of the lines you wish to eliminate.
There are viruses, spyware and Web accelerator programs that will alter your
HOSTS file to prevent you from accessing certain sites.

You can use a simple batch file to rename the HOSTS file "on-the-fly".
Download: RenHosts.bat [right-click and select: Save Target As]

Since the main object of that page is some Macromedia Flash
a more useful thing to check is the level of that service on both
machines and upgrade it if necessary.

What do you see when you start to open that page?
(Give some details about what you mean by "it does not work".)

If you can right-click on that page while it is loading, choose
About Macromedia Flash...
That will lead you to a test site where you can optionally update
your version of the player.

BTW there is nothing on that first page except Flash images
so if your security settings don't allow ActiveX you won't see much.
In particular you won't even be able to see the link to the next
page which is also implemented by a Flash image, even if you
try to use View Source to help you... ;o

Good luck

I'm having the same problem, and I DID find something in the knowledgebase about it. I can't find the article now, however.

The crux of the article was that you could contact Microsoft for the fix (there was no download link available). However, I've
been unable to find a way to contact them!!!

They confirmed this only happens with XP Home and XP Pro. I'm using XP Pro.

timfitzpatrick,

If you are having problems with that page that Mark cited
you should describe your symptoms in detail and as well
feedback your results for the diagnostics I suggested to Mark.

Otherwise please start your own thread.
It sounds like you have a completely different problem.
The symptom descriptions may sound similar but the causes
are likely to be entirely different.
