on certain website, when IE trying to open, it will just
shut down that particular brower. No error message or no
error is logged. Same website on another machine is okay.
Is that something wrong with JAVA ?

I am having the same problem. I just bought my computer
from DELL 2 days ago and have WinXP Home. Have you found
anything about why IE closes it's self? I found that if
you quickly open the "about IE" window, it keeps IE from
closing.

My browser closed so quick I would not have time to
open "about IE", I also found out if I download the other
brand "netsxxxx" browser some of the site can be seen but
still need to find out why. My whole IT department at
work cannot figure it out.

Things to check and do.

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit is with these
tools.

Does anyone know why typing in http;//www.facelink.com
with or without a persons facelink page closes my browser >window?

Tools/internet options/advanced/Microsoft VM
....only tick the JIT compiler box and leave the Java boxes un checked
(default)
when running Win 95 IE 5.5, else the browser window closes.
Same thing for IE 6, confirmed.
