just recently I got sick of spam and pop-ups and thought
that using a proxy in IE was the solution. picked one up
off some public proxy forum and loaded into my LAN
settings. later this same night IE is now unavailable to
me. as soon as my home page(comcast center) finishes
loading I get IE has encountered a problem and must
close. this occurs every time I try to launch IE.
Browsing through system logs and error reports I've
noticed this phrase__"faulting module RPCT4.dll version
5.1.2600.1254." I've disabled proxies through internet
tools and reset to default levels but still haven't fixed
the problem. Could this RPCT4.dll have been erased from
my hard drive somehow and is the reason why IE won't stay
loaded? MSN messenger seems to work fine. I've also come
across these in the system logs---"Logon error code
0x000006A" and "Access violation C000005" but have no
idea what they might point to and cant find any info on
support site. Is there a way to uninstall IE and re-
install it altogether? If not, do you recommend Mozilla
or Opera as a good browser replacement?
Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.
