Dan Henderson

I have recently become unable to perform searches from
the address bar. I have checked all settings and set to
allow for address bar searches and to use MSN search.
When I put a search word in the address bar and hit
return, I get a page cannot be displayed error message
and the address bar contains http:///? (search word).
This has occurred on all computers in networked
environment with XP Pro. I've installed all critical
updates at home and work and do not have any problems
with the home computer. Have been through the process
of "repairing" IE. Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi Dan -
enter the following (NOT including the dashed lines) into Notepad and
save as: RestoreSearch.reg, then double click on the saved file to
restore your default search settings.

Alternatively, here's a regfile that will restore the Windows defaults for practically everything
Search-related.

http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/IEFIX.reg

Save to disk, close all browser windows, double click the file and answer 'yes' when asked to
merge.
Restart your computer.

He means not to include the long lines created via the underscore:
