Hi All
just need to know is there any unique way of identifying a mail in
outlook?

When a mail comes in we have message id that uniquely identifies a
mail. Similarly for the sent items is there any unique id generated??

Depends on what you want to do with it and how you want to identify the
mail. The number you are refereing to is generated by the mailserver when
the message is sent by smtp.

Say i list some mails in a listview in an addins. Now want to
implement the functionality of all the options available in context
menu + my custom functions in the addins. For this if an user selects
a mail and say he clicks reply in the listview addins, i need some way
to identify so that the correct mail is listed in the reply window.

Thanks
Anushya

Not sure if it is going to help you but when you open a sent message with a
picture in it from the Sent Items you can right click in the message and
choose View Source. Here you can find the following tag for the image <IMG
src="cid:XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX">.

The lot of XXX is the message ID.

I think you get a better answer about this in the outlook.program_addins or
outlook.program_vba newsgroup

The combination of Item.EntryID and Item.Parent.StoreID uniquely
identify an item. Of course those are subject to change if the item is
moved.
