Identifying Bad Contact Records / Scanexe.pst

I've been attempting to run scanexe.pst against the outlook.pst, but keep
getting a can't perform, run scandisk message. I ran scandisk and received a
message that the only issue is my outlook.pst file which is 238 MB and in 4
fragments. To complicate things, I open outlook and everything looks/works
great, but just can not back-up or synce with my palm treo. Any assistance in
advising on what to do without risking the loss of my 1000+ contacts would be
appreciated.

We recommend alternating a scandisk utility with scanpst.exe (which I assume
is what you meant), until neither reports any errors.
If the Inbox Repair Tool fails to repair the PST file, you can use the
following tool to find out what can be fixed:
http://officerecovery.com/outlook/index.htm
If that doesn't work, you might want to consider creating a new PST file and
copying what you need into it before this one goes belly up.
 
Yes, you're correct. Currently, I've ran disk defragmenter (hopefully that's
scandisk) and it identifies an issue (can't/don't know where to go for
repair??) with my outlook.pst file. I've attempted to run scanpst.exe but the
message continues to be "unexpected error prevents access to this file. Run
scandisk to check for errors (above, no repair options or I'm missing), then
inbox repair tool again.

It feels as if I've identified the file (outlook.pst - 4 fragments, 238mb)
but can't /don't know how-to repair and have yet to be able to run
scanpst.exe due to the above message.

Before I run your recovery tool, any further suggestions? I appreciate your
help, as I've struggled with this one for over 24 hours being nervous that I
might lose all the contact information.

No. Disk defragmenter is not scandisk. Run scandisk. It's in the Tools Menu
for the properties of your hard drive and will require a reboot to do any
repairs.
