I had a system crash earlier this week that resulted in a blue screen that
could not be repaired. I formatted the HD and reloaded the XP operating
system, but when I started up the machine, I recived the following message:

"SATA Primary drive 0 not found
Notice: The promary IDE master hard drive SELF MONITORING SYSTEM has
reported that a parameter has exceeded its normal operating range. Dell
recommends that you back up you data regularly. "

What should I do to fix this issue? Thanks!

If the drive is still under warranty contact the warranty support dept
and get the drive replaced.

If the drive is not under warranty run, don't walk, to your nearest
computer store and get a new drive.

There is a very strong possibility that your drive is about to join
the dearly departed.

Good luck

Try entering the BIOS,chk boot drive priority, make sure C: is set as #1
device. You might also boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter key for password,
then type:CHKDSK C: /p You can also:CHKDSK C: /R Also,all drive mfg have
a DOS diagnostic drive utility,download to a formated MS-DOS floppy,set BIOS
to boot to floppy if needed.
