IDE identified as SCSI

All 4 of my IDE devices (2 Hard drives and 2 CD-RW) are
wrongly identified in XP as SCSI devices. This causes
problems with some programmes. How can I get XP to
correctly identify them?

If they are on a separate controller card, that's normal. Why do you suspect
this is the cause of the problems?
