Hi all, when I plug my IDE cable into the mobo it has two places for two HDD
or CD ROMS or whatever, my question is dose the master goto the one at the
very end and the slave to the one in the middle? or is it the other way
around?

Thanks
Shaun B.

Hi,

It doesn't matter which connector on the cable you use.
Each IDE device has master(ma)/slave(sl) jumpers to tell which is which.

With a modern 80-wire cable you should use the very end for the master,
even if you're not using cable select, and use the middle connector for
the slave.

it doesn't matter anymore, years ago it did, just set the jumpers for master
or slave
on the hard drivers or cdroms.
