Hi

Some DVD/CD drives have a small connector (about almost an inch wide with 50
pin, I think). These drives are normally of slim type (like the Samsung
TS-L532).

What I'd like to do is to connect this drive to my PC with a regular 80-pin
IDE port. Are there cables that work as converter for this ? Or, is it not
compatible to use this type of drive in a regular PC ?

Please comment.

Thanks
Steve

I think you are referring to a sata connector this type of dvd/cd drive
should only be used
in a system with a very new motherboard. Older sata motherboards have
problem with this type of drive. Some motherboard makers have bios upgrades
to make them work some do not. To run sata drives a driver must be installed
before installing windows xp but I here that some of the newer boards have
the drivers in the bios.

Thank you ... the 50-pin (slimline) to 40-pin (ide) adapter is exactly what
I'm looking for.

Hi...and thanks for your message.

sata ? Nope, not sata. I think sata has only 7 pin; whereas, this one has
50 pins.

The links from Jaymon pointed me to the item I was looking for .
