Chris

I have a SpeedStream DSL PPPoE modem hooked to one NIC. I have a second NIC
attached to a Belkin 4 port hub. My second computer attaches to the Belkin
as well. Both computers can see each other on the LAN just fine, but I
cannot get the client to go on the internet. My computer, the host, can
work on the internet fine, but not the client.

Trying to follow the network troubleshooter, I tried to assign the client
the proper settings (DNS and IP settings), but when I do that I can no
longer browse the LAN at all.

What am I probably missing?

If the host has both a PPPoE connection and an Ethernet connection, be
sure to enable ICS on the PPPoE connection.

An alternative is to replace the hub with an inexpensive broadband
router, connect the DSL modem to the router's WAN port, and connect
both computers to its LAN ports. You wouldn't need 2 NICs or ICS on
the first computer, and the second computer wouldn't be dependent on
the first computer for its Internet access.
